# Knowra

> Knowra helps AI assistants find arXiv papers and read Scout reports on methods, evidence and limitations. Use it to explore a research direction and check recent papers by date.

- Coverage: arXiv papers in every subject from August 1, 2025, indexed shortly after each daily arXiv announcement. Scout for new papers usually follows within about a day.
- Search is available without an account. Scout and account usage require authentication through OAuth in supported clients, or a personal API key from the Knowra account page.
- Scheduling and recurring updates are provided by your client, when supported.

## Tools

- `search_papers`: search the indexed arXiv papers, optionally by date. Dates use UTC and refer to the paper date recorded in the index, not necessarily the first submission date. Coverage starts August 1, 2025; a date-filtered request covers at most one calendar month.
- `get_scout`: read a paper-based report to help decide what deserves closer reading. Check `scout_available` in search results. A first unlock uses the account's Scout allowance; repeated reads of that account's unlocked paper do not use another unlock.
- `get_usage`: view the signed-in account's plan and remaining Scout allowance.

Scout supports screening and does not replace checking the original paper. Search covers the Knowra index, not every research publication.
